It has been suggested that a leading vaccination for malaria could well be improved, by focusing on the AMA1 protein.
According to a study led by Sheetij Dutta from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research and published in PLOS Pathogens, the protein is required by the Plasmodium falciparum parasite to invade blood cells and bring about the condition.
